Resources Kangchenjunga

on the web

on paper

  • The Kangchenjunga Adventure, by F.S. Smythe
A hero of early mountaineering describes one of the early expeditions. Excellent. ISBN 81-7769-005-1 Hard to find, but available in Kathmandu.
  • Round Kangchenjunga, by Doug Freshfield . ISBN ???
Adventures from 1899, well written and still valid. Available in Kathmandu.
  • Himalayan Journeys
J.D. Hooker was a British botanist and the first Westerner to explore the area. His book is available online, including illustrations instead of pictures. Highly interesting because it covers Olungchungkola and Yangma and the passes to the north. Little seems to have changed in the last 150 years.
